
Carla Abilés (1988) is a multidisciplinary artist from northern Argentina. She graduated in Fine Arts from the School of Arts in her hometown, Salta. Her artistic practice has been shaped through participation in several training programs, including the Art Clinics Program of the Fondo Nacional de las Artes (FNA), Argentina, Club Fénix, and the Centro de Investigaciones Artísticas (CIA), among others.. She is part of Unión Textiles Semillas, a collective network of more than 300 weavers from northern Argentina. In Argentina, she is represented by the Argentine gallery La Arte.
After moving to Berlin, she intensified her research on textiles and ancestral knowledge, exploring their relationship with migratory narratives from a feminist and collaborative perspective. Through this work she has organized community workshops and developed long-term collaborations with weaving communities from northwestern Argentina. Her work has been exhibited in Argentina, Spain, and Germany, and is part of collections in both Argentina and Europe.
Since 2017, she has worked as an assistant and producer for various artists and studios in Berlin, gaining extensive experience in the production of fine art across a wide range of materials, as well as in restoration and art handling.
